First Lady Serita A. Jakes
Serita A. Jakesis an inspirational woman of God who leads with wisdom and grace as a noted author, speaker and visionary.
In her role as executive director of The Potter's House Women's Ministries, Serita Jakes oversees Rahab International Ministries for domestic violence victims and survivors as well as the highly acclaimed God's Leading Ladies Life Enrichment Program (GLL), a curriculum-based program for women from all walks of life.
A gifted writer, Serita Jakes has penned three books: The Princess Within (1999), Beside Every Good Man: Loving Myself While Standing By Him (2003) and a fiction novel, The Crossing (2011), which tackles such tough issues as domestic violence, trauma and post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD). In 2011, Serita Jakes also assisted in the production of the film, Jumping the Broom, which opened in theaters May of the same year and topped box office numbers on opening weekend.
Jakes' biblically-grounded knowledge allows her to share with believers and non-believers alike through appearances on The Dr. Phil Show, CNN and Fox News. She also has been profiled in such notable publications as Ebony, The Washington Post and Essence.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Jakes and her husband have five children and two grandchildren.
